Yesterday I went to the US Open for the day, this time with Doug and his family.
Unfortunately most of the big-name players had already played on Wednesday, but we still got to see Sharapova at the end of the day, who totally crushed her opponent in straight sets.
I thought this was kind of funny…
A billboard showing the number of aces that had been served that day.
What if they had one of these at dance performances?
Pirouette revolutions performed so far this evening… 205.
…just being silly.

they should! ballet is a harder sport than any of those other so-called ’sports’

Not so silly — a lot of fans count Odile’s fouettés. It’d be tough to keep track of the whole cast though.

It’s the combination of athleticism and artistry that makes ballet dancers so intriguing.

I agree, Philip! It’s interesting to me how many ballet dancers and fans are into tennis. I read an interview with David where he said this was the one sport he really loved to watch, Kristin’s obviously gone to the Open, and I just peeked at Philip’s blog, and he’s been there a lot this week as well. I’m gonna have to start watching more tennis!

American Express is donating $100 per ace made in the Arthur Ashe Stadium to the USTA Tennis and Education Foundation. Pretty good idea for a fund raiser!
