Woah…
Whiplash!
Two videos in one day!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting New Dance Group Arts Center at their new space on 8th Avenue and 38th Street in NYC and speaking with Jae McManus, their general director, on the month-one countdown to their grand opening.
NDG was originally started in 1932. It is a non-profit organization that is trying to foster creativity in dance and the performing arts.
They recently sold their former building near Time Square, and are now leasing a 21,000 square foot space that holds eleven studios… two of which are equipped for performance use, and some of which will have recording and multi-media capabilities in the near future.
I am so excited about this new space and what it will do for dance in New York, that I am doing my best to prevent NDG from staying New York’s best kept dance secret.
Their official opening day is September 15th, during which they are planning a ribbon cutting and free dance classes throughout the day, followed by a performance of the NDG company and a party in the evening.
Thank you Jae and Farrah for taking the time to share your space and ideas with The Winger!
