Mr. Christopher Wheeldon

I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of the winger family — someone whom I’ve had the great pleasure of working with (and being inspired by) on a number of occasions — the incredibly talented dancer, choreographer and now director, Mr. Christopher Wheeldon.

He’s had quite the exciting, busy, and successful life in his relatively few years (as his biography shows) and he will now be embarking on one of his biggest challenges yet - the start of his own dance company, Morphoses.

As you’ll see, he’s a wonderful person and a wonderful artist, and I’m thrilled that he will be sharing his new experiences with us.

Welcome Chris!

    Wow just… WOW!
For some reason it never occured to me that Great Choreographers (okay, /someone/ has been reading too much Winnie the Pooh lately…! ;) ) could also be on the Winger (with all the Great Dancers that we already have here!), but how absolutely marvellous!
Welcome mr. Wheeldon, how lovely that you’re here!

Wow, a major coup for The Winger.

Chris is great; I met him a few times while I was working at Tower. I love his ballets but I have to say, I do sort of miss him as a dancer!!

Thank you for the wonderful news.

I love Mr.Wheeldon’s ballets and am interested in Morphoses the Wheeldon Company very much.
After the premimere of “Dance of the Hours” at the Met, he flied to Oslo, London, NY,London, Moscow, Madrid and returned to NY! He has the Magic Carpet in Aladdin, I believe.
I am looking forward to reading his posts!

What great news! The prospect of cross-pollinating with Christopher Wheeldon is terribly exciting. Chistopher’s mission statement on the Morphoses website, to “restore ballet as a source of innovation” through collaboration and “mark an evolution in the history traditional, classical ballet” sounds…well radical. Attempting to morph dance into a more transformative field is a project we are all participating in. This gives me hope for the future kinesthetic and that is, simply put, dope.

I’ve been a lurker on this blog, but I’ve got to say, “Yay!!!!”

I’m actually going to see “After the Rain” with the National Australian Ballet soon, and I’ve been so excited about it. I’m now even more thrilled that Mr. Wheeldon is now a contributor to one of my favourite blogs :)
