Last night I tagged along with Doug to the Art Directors Club’s Student Design Portfolio Review. What I understand it to be, is a place where students can show their work to potential employers and get feedback on their work and presentation. Tables are set up throughout the space, and each person has a space to display their portfolios and other small examples of their work (as well as cards and resumes of course). Below, everyone beginning to pack up.
It was really interesting to watch Doug look for talent. He started out by targeting all the people who had Web or Interactive experience in their descriptions. It was interesting to note that those designers were also the ones who seemed to have the most people coming over to check out their work. It’s kind of amazing that in this day and age, some up and coming designers still completely ignore the web. But I suppose I am biased with my technology fascination, not to mention living with someone like Doug.
I’m so fascinated by good design, and it was interesting to see how these designers chose to present themselves in a small environment like this.
And I just thought I would add in this amazingly beautiful sunset over East Houston. We stopped by ‘Inoteca after the ADC and randomly met up with a few friends.
