There are no chandeliers inside the theatre part of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (something that made me quite sad, really), but a number of these take center stage in the lobby area. Yea.
Did you see last night’s Othello- it was beyond amazing!! Marcelo is absolutely gut wrenching, Julie haunting and ethereal, Sascha and Stella tremendous and exciting, the entire cast is incredible. I was so floored by this production with every single element - music, set, lighting, costume and choreography- achieving as close to perfection as one could hope for. I actually cried in the parking lot trying to go home.
I hope the rest of the performances have great audiences- this piece displays contemporary ballet in a way that I think anyone could appreciate and be deeply moved. I had to smile at the audience booing Sascha- everyone loves a great villain!
