At the Broadway/Lafayette Subway Station

The other day I was coming out of the subway at the Broadway/Lafayette stop on the B/D/F/V. The first thing I saw was this decal that made it look like there was a museum-style room beyond the subway tile. At first I didn’t notice the shape (hey, it was the end of a long day) and then as I got closer to street level I saw even more…

Then I turned around and saw what it was all about…

Kind of fun. At first it looks like a site-specific art installation in the subway station, but then turns out to also be an ad for the New Museum on the Bowery. The shape - for those of you not in New York (there have been lots of announcements, write-ups and advertisements here around the opening) - is the outline of the New Museum building by Tokyo-based architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa/SANAA.

    that’s pretty cool!
in every metro station here in sao paulo, there’s an art piece, or for example, the one that is right under our main museum, they display some of the paitings that they have.

    Wow those are so cool!
(I do something like that in my dorm room, to make it look as if it’s NOT just the size of a friggin’ birdcage! ;) )
