Gold Medal

Finding this image yesterday was an “aha!” moment for me. Often patterns can be really dangerous, especially when put on a leotard. But here is an example of how to do it right. Thanks Pucci! You can expect to see the influence of this when my new fall colors for LOLAstretch are announced on Friday. Maybe there will be more than just a fabulous pumpkin or jade……

{Gymnast leotard designed by Pucci for NY Times Magazine shoot. They are a design house famous for prints, as evidenced!, for those who might not be in the fashion know.}

Don’t you wish the American Team was really wearing this in Bejing, instead of the rhinestone dusted usual?

    this is beautiful!

    i’m not sure how pucci-like prints would work on male gymnasts though, would they work?

    The American gymnasts are going to be in hideous leotards this year. Even worse than the rhinestone studded usual, based on the pictures I’ve seen so far.

    I really enjoy these posts on design. I know less than nothing on the subject so this is fascinating. I started paying more attention after seeng the Danse y Danza dvd of their production of Salome. (It has a section with the producer talking to each of the people who created the ballet.)

    GOOD GOD NO! Those are worse then the ones they’re considering. They’re WAY too distracting. While the leos that are show do have rhinestones, they’re meant to provide a little flash but not enough.

    Man that is a disgusting leo.

    And if they’re doing to do a gymnastic photo shoot, they should at least put a female gymnast with WAG (Women Artistic Gymnastics) events such as Beam, Bars, Floor, and Vault. Still rings are a men’s and only men’s event. Man somebody didn’t do their research.
