At the beginning of February we launched a New York City Ballet YouTube Channel. (Yippee - legal videos of dance!) This gives NYCB an additional space in which to present any video content we create (program previews, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, etc). While there are so many options today in terms of where to share your videos online, the one thing that YouTube has above any other is the largest audience. And with YouTube’s relatively new branding and design features, it’s possible to create a channel that is complimentary to the look and feel of your company or work.

Unfortunately due to rights issues, most of these videos cannot be embedded on other websites - but fortunately the company has been working hard to be able to make them available here. The program preview videos which have lived on nycballet.com, in the NY State Theater lobby and on YouTube will be taken down after tomorrow’s performance, so try to check them out before they are gone.
This is an introductory video we did, as a way of introducing and welcoming people to our channel in a more personable way…
We’re now in the midst of planning for something we’ll be doing during the company’s upcoming tour to London (the first time NYCB has been to London in 25 years!). More on that soon.

That’s funny, a bunch of us were just watching at that page today in our dressing room. That’s pretty awesome.

Congratulations on the exciting youtube channel!
We are very excited especially when we’re not able to get to performances…
(Last week when we were watching Live Metropolitan Opera HD at the local movie theater, we wondered
if NYCB would one day do the same???)

[...] The connection between the video above and the rest of the article is, to me, a little fuzzy. Overall, though, the article is pretty neat. Especially cool is that Looseleaf recognizes certain notables, including Daniil Simkin, Rolando Sarabia, Anaheim Ballet, Grover Dale’s Answers4Dancers and, of course, New York City Ballet’s website and YouTube channel. (Congrats, Kristin!) [...]
