The Hair cutting cliche

What is it about dancers retiring and then cutting their hair off?

I don’t know, but I felt that it was time for a bit of a change - beyond whatever odd color combinations I could come up with - so I ended up following that common pattern, and cut it all (most of it at least) off.

I think my stylist was more traumatized than I was. I thought it would feel weird or drastic, but for the most part I don’t notice it unless it’s when I’m washing my hair.
No threat of buns or french twists in the near future!

I know what you feel! I cut my hair (several several inches) and It’s amazing sometimes how much less shampoo I use. I noticed when I brushed my hair. Congrats!

I love all the clamoring for new pictures of the short do.

Can I add my request to the mix?

I totally believe in the transitional healing power of hair change. Dorky, but true. After a break up, after a big trip and after a big life change (like your transition to your new job).

You are truly evil to tease in this manner.. no pictures??? I’m sure you look fantastic. Show us!!!
At PCS one of the funny quitting ballet cliches was watching the girls grow a chest! ;-)

I guess now that you are not in the corps you don’t have to be a bun head?

Ahhh, I LOVE it every time I chop a huge part of my hair off! Makes me feel all new somehow!
Of course I agree with everyone about the pic though, don’t tease us this way!

Oh and SanderO: bun or no bun, I think ‘being a bunhead’ is for life! :P

NICE!!!!! I LOVE SHORT HAIR. I can’t wait to see what it looks like… I cut my hair over the summer, and my ballet teacher was SERIOUSLY traumatized lol. It’s so much fun… I hope you’re having fun with it, and isn’t it great to see how different clothes look with short hair. :-)

Boy oh boy was that a BLANK hair tease you left us hanging - and I’m a HAIRSTYLIST living vicariously waxing the nostalgia of my past life through ballet, dance in general and whatever I read and see on the WINGER or other media publications!

Nonetheless, I’m certain you look rather chic and savvy indeed! And for all those other ‘bun heads’ out there who are thinking about whacking their tresses off - I say go for it! You can always slick back your hair with product and use a faux bun piece attached to your head to create the illusion if you so desire….or wear a wig!

    Cheers!

That’s really cool that you cut your hair. I got bangs about 2 weeks before the Nutcracker and the director of my school just about had a heart attack! But I was a good girl and slicked them back :)
