I am going to post a link to this post in the Livejournal _sytycd_ community.

I still remember the footage of your audition for SYTYCD. I wish you could have been on the show. But … at least you are in a major ballet company.

Speaking of So You Think You Can Dance, I have been a HUGE fan for seasons 3, 4, 5 and part of 2. I have recorded many of the shows and watched them repeatedly. I have been to see the tour as well.

However, this season is so dull to me. Part of it is the new stage and giant video screen. Part of it is that certain choreographers like Sonya, Tabitha and Napolean keep having the contestants do the same old dance moves. The formula that made the show a hit in the past needs to be switched up. And finally, this crew of contestants are good dancers but don’t have any ‘it’ factor whatsoever.

Nigel, Mary, etc. keep building up the next season by saying that the dancers are going to be better than any of the dancers that came before. But eventually, the dancers would have to have some kind of super powers in order to be better than anyone who came before. And super powers don’t really exist. At this point, the ‘better-ness’ of the dancers has reached the plateau.
