Hi Wingers!
Sorry I haven’t posted for a while, but I have been keeping busy with So You Think You Can Dance, and since I wasn’t able to blog about that, I really didn’t have much to say!
Anyhow for anyone who missed it and wanted to see it, I’ve found some clips of it on youtube and I thought I would post it.
And for those that are new to the Winger, welcome! I blog here about dance and if you would like to keep updated on my season at Miami City Ballet, come check out the Winger!

Alex, it was a pleasure to watch the few clips they showed of you on SYTYCD. I am positive if you had been allowed out of your contract and to participate on the show, you would have gone all the way and won. Best of luck with all of your future ventures and I’ll continue to follow what you are up to via Winger.

Alex–you were the one and only reason I planned to give the show one last chance this year. But I watched open-mouthed, in horror, as Nigel Lythgoe dropped that bomb on you last week. I am so very sorry. You are an astonishing, sterling dancer and you also seem like a genuinely nice guy. Best wishes to you always.

Alex,
You deserve all the best. I watched how supprtive you were to all of the dancers before you went in–simply stellar. A tribute to your character.
You opened the eyes of many to the world of ballet. Your future is going to be amazing! How fortunate we got a glimpse of your talent on TV.

Dear Alex,
As a former “movician” having studied and performed in Europe, and USA mime, dance and theatre, I am a big fan and supporter of dance. Your last performance on So You Think You Can Dance, was breathtaking! I was stunned by the pure power and beauty. It was Bruce Lee’s 2″ punch that would send opponents flying on their derrieres. I was floored. And I was also floored by the announcement of you not being let out of your contract in Miami! What the…?! Why wasn’t this worked out before you auditioned? Wouldn’t you being in the top 20 on So You Think You Can Dance bring a ton of publicity to your dance company in Miami and increase it’s audience? I don’t get it. And I’m so frustrated that I won’t see you anymore being that I live in California. Stay healthy, good luck and I hope to see you on the show next year. And gosh, I’m still upset that you’re not on the show!

Alex, stay true to yourself - always! If SYTYCD has started a new phase of self-discovery and -expression for you, continue that journey. It may be at a slower pace, for now. “To thine own self - be true.”

Alex, you are absolutely amazing, normally when i watch sytycd, i just pay attention to the hiphoppers, but when i saw your solos, u definitely introduced me to a different view of dancing overall. I can’t wait to see you on sytycd again, I was so sad when they said you were under contract.

Such a shame that you couldn’t stay on the show. You were my favorite. Do you plan to try again when your contract ends? When does your contract end? And when can I possibly fly down to Miami to see you in the meantime?

Dear Alex,
You are amazing and I was anxious to see what you would do with the other genres of dance. I was so disappointed for you because you were so hurt. I was also disappointed that I was not going to see more of your dancing.
We’ve gotten a taste, now we all want more!
Keep on dancing.

My sister and I truly loved your stay on SYTYCD! When I saw that you were on I screamed out “OMG I know who that is!” hahaha. You are a beautiful dancer and I know for a fact that you will go very far in your career in and out of the ballet world. I really hope that once you are done with Miami City Ballet you go back to SYTYCD just so I can have the chance to watch you and enjoy your dancing every Wednesday night!
Best of Luck with everything!!!!

I applaud you for expanding into a different dance area! I have heard that MCB will be getting a few more audience members because of your exposure on SYTYCD—your dancing talent excited a lot of people.

Hey Alex! I remember seeing you on SYTYCD season 5 and was so proud! After the finale, I had to look up to see if you were going to be on season 6 lol. Do you think you will be able to be on the show in the near future? I want to see you dance all genres! I admire you lots! i wish I could meet you!

I know that the season you auditioned for is over but I still think about how (you) another ballet person (besides Melissa Sandvig) could have been on that show. There could have been a pas de deux with you and Melissa.
Well … the show seems like it is going to be on for quite a few years. So … try again!!

Dear Alex,
From the little I saw of your auditions from So You Think You Can Dance you are extremely talented. From all the dancers and performances your audition was the standout of last season.
I was hoping that you would perhaps be allowed to try out again but here it is Sept. 2nd. and I can’t find any news about you. Let me just say that the viewing public and anyone who loves dance has been robbed of the chance to see an extraordinary dancer.
Good Luck in the future. I only wish I was able to see you dance on stage. Thank you for being such a wonderful and talented dancer.

Alex. We just got the new SYTYCD series in South Africa and WOW, you amazed us all. I cried when Nigel said you wouldn’t be allowed out of your contract. What an absolute shame because you most certainly would have won by a mile.
BRILLIANT is an absolute understatement for what you bring to the dance stage!!!

You are magnificent. I am so honored and grateful to be able to witness through your impossible movement, such a profound expression, maybe blessed violation and exposure of our blood, our bones and the violence of the human heart. You are the reason that we might survive ourselves. You are hope. To me, that is true. Between you and Billy Bell-who also kicks my arse-, I honestly feel the potential for balance away from the hands of hate, greed and small ugly corners. Thank You. I am a mom and wife in a tiny town and I want to thank you from the bottom of my tired and sorrowed heart for the joy of you. All my love-Darla

Alex:
Loved watching your performance on SYTYD. Were you in the Miami City Performance recently at the Broward Center?
My daughter is a ballet dancer also, she danced until recently, and was teaching for a while here in Miami.
I notice you are from Canada, I was wondering if your family was originally from Jamaica. I am and I know many of the Jamaicans moved to Canada. Wong was a popular name in the islands.
Good luck and congratulations

oh my goodness Alex you are amazing!!!
With all seriousness, I really do hope that you get well, and I will be watching to see if there is a time that I can see you dance live!! You are just amazing!
I have been a fan of you since you first tried out for SYTYCD, and I was ecstatic when you made the show this year. You are truly an amazing dancer and person! When I heard Nigel say that you were injured, my heart sank. I just wanted to give you my support and say that I hope you get better soon! I am not a professional dancer, and I don’t even take dance lessons, but I have a deep respect for the art of dance and for you. You are an inspiration! I truly believe that your career has only just begun. You’d better be able to dance next week or I’m going to be really mad!
xoxo
P.S- your hip hop routine last week with Twitch was FREAKING BEAST! luv ya

Dear Alex, I am so sad that you had to exit from SYTYCD! My heart was broken when I knew you injured your leg yesterday. I prayed that there was nothing serious so that you can come back to dance. Today when I watched the show, I cannot stop from crying - I wish some magic could heal your leg! I enjoyed your dance so much. I have been watching your hip hop routine many times a day - you are brilliant, the best dancer ever! Please get reocvered quickly!

Hi Alex,
I’m with Mia–I missed seeing you dance on SYTYCD. I knew something was terribly wrong when I didn’t see you in the opener. Very sad about your unfortunate circumstance–I only watched SYTYCD because I very much enjoyed your dancing…. especially after waiting a whole year (since last year’s auditions) to see you do what your so gifted at doing.
Get well soon. Your heart may ache but we also suffer with you! Take care… also another fellow Vancouverite!

I am disheartened by the fact that you will not be able to continue this season of So You Think You Can Dance. You have been my favorite since season 5. I was so delighted to see you again this season. You have honestly inspired me (and a lot of other people all over the world, I’m sure) with your journey in the show. Not everyone can do what you did and give up something you’ve long worked hard for in exchange of an experience that will yield uncertain results.
Thank you, Alex Wong, for being such an inspiration to everyone. I admire your talent and passion for dancing. I look forward to watching you in the next season of SYTYCD. I am praying for your speedy recovery. May the Lord bless you always.

I am such a fan of yours on SYTYCD. Your hip hop routine with TWitch was amazing, and I am sure you would have been amazing each and every week. You are an incredible dancer!
I hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly. I am hoping that you will try STYCD once you are completely healed as I would love to see you perform again on the show, and I am sure that many others want to see you perform again.
Here’s to a speedy recovery. Stay strong and looking forward to seeing you on tv again. You make Canadians proud!!!

Alex sometimes in life we do not know why things happen. In my experience there is a higher purpose although at this moment you cannot see what it is. Soon it will become clear and you will understand your destined path. You are a brilliant dancer and you would have won the show, however, this may not have been God’s plan for you at this time. Be patient. I loved watching you dance. God bless.

ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!! Aw, I love you.
I cried when I saw you were hurt. :’( and then when you got out cuz of it I started punching the floor haha…. now I’m rooting for Jose, but if you were there, it would be you AND Jose.
Dude, so it’s totally your decision and I KNOW you’re gonna make the right choice with whether to go back to SYTYCD and all that…… I’m sure you can get any dancing job you ever want now anyway…… but if you decide to come back to the show… good luck! Maybe next season won’t be cursed and you’ll win like you should.
So…… pretty much, you’re awesome and amazing and fantastic and hilarious and just every good adjective… love you!!! But of course, um… not like that… there’s a bit (YEARS) of an age difference…
Good luck with everything…………. I’m sure you don’t need it though.

I’m not involved in dancing whatsoever. Alex i can see that you are more talented and a better dancer than 99% people I’ve ever seen. Your ability to seamlessly transition into multiple dance styles is incredible. Please accept your invatation to SYTYCD and come back to win it all. I rather see you showcase your all round skills and talents to the whole nation/ world than your ballet just to the miami area.

Dear Alex,
You are a beautiful, brilliant dancer and an inspiration to all! Your clean lines, breathtaking jumps and amazing technique had me spellbound and captivated audiences around the world!
As a former dancer, I can appreciate the sacrifices you made in order to perform on SYTYCD … only to have those dreams (temporarily) shattered. But adversity forces us to grow, and you will be a stronger dancer and artist because of it! We absolutely LOVE you and can’t wait to see you perform again!
I pray for your speedy recovery. Trust in life and in your abilities. You are an amazing gift to the world of dance!
