Alston began her dance training at the age of two. Starting at the age of five, she danced at The Studio in Savannah, Georgia with Veronica Moretti Niebuhr for seven years. During this time, she danced the role of Clara in the Nutcracker for three years with the Columbia City Ballet, under the direction of William Starrett.

When she was eleven years old, she was a top 12 finalist of the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) New York Finals. She has also placed first twice at the Regional level of the Youth America Grand Prix. Alston received the Junior Grand Prix Award at the Philadelphia YAGP Regionals in 2011.

She attended the Chautauqua Workshop I in 2008 and 2009. During the summers of 2010 and 2011, she attended the School of American Ballet’s five week program on a full merit scholarship.

She was a merit scholarship student at the Rock School for Dance Education during her freshman year of high school. Currently, she is a student at the School of American Ballet. She would like to dance with a professional ballet company when she completes high school.
