KRISTIN OSLER hails from Dayton, Ohio where she studied dance incessantly with the South Dayton Dance Theatre. She graduated magna cum laude (with honors in dance and a minor in visual arts) from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program in New York City.
She is currently working abroad in Germany for the Staatstheater Kassel Tanztheater under the direction of Johannes Wieland. She also dances for Mr. Wieland’s New York based company, johannes wieland. Kristin has worked with Antony Rizzi and the Miro Dance Theatre, and is also a founding member of Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre in New York. She has worked with choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Helen Pickett, and Christopher Huggins, and performed works by Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, and Hans van Manen.
Considering the fact that she hasn’t stopped moving since birth, Kristin believes that moving/dancing bodies are the ideal tools for making discoveries, taking risks, and breaking boundaries. She sees and utilizes dance as the unity of sensory and mental awareness; which is essential to human expression. When she does take a moment to be still, Kristin enjoys improvisation-based cooking, recreational painting, live music, and skype.
