Dougie and I went for some Indian food on Friday in the midst of Nutcracker madness (I had a rare and much needed night off).
This week we go straight until the 23rd, no Monday rest-day!! AAHHH! At least two people in my dressing room have been sick this past week, and injuries are spreading. There’s no way around it. The fact of the matter is, Nutcracker wears you down. Every year I have done Nutcracker I have become violently ill. Whether it’s food poisoning, or a flu so bad I start hallucinating, I’ve always had a hard time getting through. But it helps to know that so many people (the shows have been totally sold out), are excited to come.
Most years there is a New Years Eve performance at 7:30, and very often there are more performances in the new year. It’s kind of hard to go back to Nutcracker after New Years, and fortunately this year we won’t have to. The last performance of The Nutcracker will be on December 30th, then we start off with a full night to open the Winter Season (Concerto Barocco, Fearful Symmetries, and Symphony in C). I’m definitely looking forward to a little more variety.
