Yesterday was the first day of the NYC transit strike. (For those of you who do not live in New York, or who do but don’t follow the news or leave your house, the buses and trains have been shut down because the workers are on strike).

This doesn’t work out so well for me since I live below Houston Street and depend on the train to get to and from Lincoln Center every day. Yesterday morning I started frantically calling up car service companies… no one had a single car to send to Manhattan. But luckily enough, there have been plenty of cabs and the traffic is relatively light (they have limited the cars allowed into Manhattan to those traveling with four or more people!). So getting to and from work yesterday was really no problem - a little expensive maybe, but you do what you have to do.

Unfortunately, since Monday I’ve had a sickness brewing and my body chose today to go on strike. Fever, swollen glands, the works. Hopefully a day of rest will be enough to shake it off and get back to dancing.
