The other night, Doug and I were leaving Casimir, a great french restaurant in our neighborhood. It took me a little longer to put on all my winter gear, and when I walked outside, I found Doug tying his shoe laces… in true ballet dancer style!
It’s not posed, I swear!

Then, we stopped at Duane Reade on our way home and I noticed this M&M in a perfect first position…

I’m not ashamed to say it.. That M&M is freaking me out!!!

Special props to Doug on the shoe-tying-posture… he makes it all look quite effortless. =o)

He’ll have to work on stretching his little candy knees! :) (This is exactly what my husband looks like when he tries to create a 1st position… eyebrows and all!)

I don’t know enough male ballet dancers (okay I don’t know any personally) to know how they tie their shoes, but I love M&M guy! Turnout does elongate the leg, and is aesthetically pleasing… perhaps M&M’s designers were clued into this and drew on it?…

The yellow M&M is actually from Vaganova Academy (obviously) . Sadly, endless unsuccessful auditions for American companies and his newfound discovery of American sweets at Halloween have led to a rather ‘unfortunately proportioned’ Christmas….The balance board will help him with the quick Balanchine-footwork though. so….things are not as bad as they seem. Plus he MUST be a turner….

Doug, on the other hand is in amazing form…The subtle hyper-extention of the leg reveals an inner instinct rarely seen today…. and the INTENSITY……the passion behind those eyes could give Evelyn Hart a definite run for her $….wow.
Poses like that are truly a dying art.
