I saw Gwyneth in this role, and she seemed very natural and totally at ease. I like the scene where Frau Stahlbaum comes back with her hair down, and finds Marie asleep holding the Nutcracker.

Henry Seth has a great stage presence; I think he would make a really good Drosselmeyer! He is a really scary Rotbart in SWAN LAKE, the best I’ve seen in that production.

Maya Collins is so pretty, I’ve been enjoying her very much the last couple of seasons. It was really good to see Kristin back onstage, and also Ashlee Knapp.

Gwyneth, I think you’re my next Hot Chocolate…

Interesting SPF coming up: Sterling Hyltin…gotta see that…and then Abi’s Dewdrop. So that’ll be 4 NUTCRACKERs so far and it’s only 3 weeks into the run. Thank goodness for Visa cards…

I’ve been wanting to ask, Kristin or Gwyneth: is that snow in the Snowflake scene as slippery as it looks?

PS: Gwyneth’s debut as Arabian coincides with Sterling’s first SPF and Ashley Laracey’s debut as Marzipan. Got the date on my calendar, in red ink.

Thank you so much! The video clip was fantastic! Looking forward to my own Nutcracker experience next week. I had the fortune of going to the Christmas tree lighting last night at Lincoln Center, from the balcony of the State Theater no less. It was fun to have the bird’s eye view because I was able to see how excited the SAB students were to perform on the balcony (and on t.v.). Megan was lovely and it was most inspiring to watch Tom Gold coach the SAB students - he’s such a good guy!

Phillip and Gwyneth- when is this amazing sounding debut performance. It’s kind of like a dream cast for me- I hope I can make it!!!

Great video! How do you feel the performance went? I’ve been a “swing” in many musicals and crossing the stage on a certain count without looking like you are trying to is one of the hardest things to do for the first time. I hope you had a great time! And the curls looked fabulous. :-)

Sandi:

Yes, this cast should be pretty hot:
It’s Saturday December 9 at 2:00 PM

Sterling Hyltin is making her role debut as SPF, Andrew Veyette is listed for her Cavalier and Tiler Peck for Dewdrop.

Two more role debuts: Gwyneth as Coffee and Ashley Laracey as Marzipan.

The beautiful Danish blonde Saskia Beskow is listed for Spanish with matinee idol Amar Ramasar; the ever-popular Tom Gold is Candy Cane and there is a further intriguing bit of casting: a guest dancer, Masahiro Suehara, in Tea.

Soon as I saw this cast I knew I’d want to be there.

Philip, you should be some kind of professional dance writer — you just made this cast sound so yummy!

I agree with Katy — more of these video posts, please please — it’s like a very fun mini documentary! (Now what does David’s voice sound like? And Marcelo’s? Did David fall off a cliff or something?…)
