Hi Everyone! Justin here with my first Winger post. I apologize for not writing something sooner, as I have been partaking in a wild goose chase—also know as the search for a livable apartment in New York. Lets see, where to begin with this blogging extravaganza? I suppose I’ll start out simple. Nice and easy, by letting you guys know what I’ve been up to for the past couple weeks or so.

I have just returned to NYC this past week after a long trip back home to San Diego. City Ballet gives us something around 10 weeks off, so it allows for a great deal of much needed R&R. Home is always relaxing, as I am able to soak up the intense Cali sun and enjoy the beautiful beaches that San Diego has to offer (growing up in So Cal has made me a bit of a beach snob, as I feel that all of the East coast beaches do not even compare 8-) ). A few of my friends were able to join me for a fun visit, including City Ballet dancers Devin Alberta and Anthony Huxley. Here are a few shots from beach trips:

Since I’ve returned to the city, I’ve found her—the one. She’s triplex garden-view apartment in a picturesque brownstone on the Upper West Side. I’ll be renting there for the coming up year with a roommate, and I couldn’t be more excited. The windows are really what makes this place so stunning. See for yourself:

The apartment is so centrally located. Anything and everything one would need is located no more then 10 blocks away. Even work (at Lincoln Center) is all of 10 blocks. Also, because so many coworkers live in the ‘hood, it gives it that small town feeling (The record so far: randomly spotted and/or ran into 8 different people I know in one day, including fellow NYCBers Seth Orza, Stephen Hanna, and Damien Woetzel).

The place is a real fixer-upper though, so I’ve been spending days and days working on it, including repainting it. Tough work! I plan to continue working on the place for the next few days, before I start getting back in shape for the good ol’ 9-to-5 (or actually in my case, the good ol’ 10:30-10:30). Can’t wait to start up again, although dreading the painful process of getting back into shape…….

Welcome, Justin! Wow, it looks like you really lucked out with the apartment search. Good luck fixing up the place and heading back to “work”. Are you starting another semester at Columbia? I graduated in May, but I already miss it terribly!

Welcome! How come I don’t ever see any of those people around? By the way, is Seth Orza still a NYCBer? I just received my Spring brochure and almost cried when I didn’t see his name listed… Must have been a misprint… Please tell him to not even THINK of leaving us!!!!!

welcome justin! is that coronado beach in that photo? that’s my favorite beach in San Diego…I graduated from UCSD so I spent a lot of time “studying” on the beaches there.

Welcome to The Winger and to the neighborhood - you’ll get used to running into your coworkers, some days I see a dozen NYCB members from Fairway to Whole Foods…

Looking forward to your posts!

Oh, and Tonya, it’s true… Seth (and newly wifed Sarah) have moved out to Seattle to join Pacific Northwest Ballet! Sad sad times for NYCB but a lovely gift for PNB.

Jennifer,
Its actually Del Mar beach. Although I did spend some time in Coronado while i was in San Diego. I rollerbladed up and down the paths that circle the island. Fun times!

Welcome to The Winger! Any relation to Tiler Peck?

Nope, no relation. We came to SAB at the same time, and started our time off there by fooling everyone into thinking that we were cousins (it makes sense: same last name, both from california, etc). But eventually, people found out about our big practical joke. We remain good friends, i’ve known her for years

Oh now you’re really making me homesick with those beach photos. And what an apartment! The living room is gorgeous - you’re very lucky.
