Here we are.

Cymbal Rush, both versions.

The edited version is shot by Matthew Taylor, and danced by Garen Scribner and Quinn Wharton.

The live version is danced by Garen Scribner and Ben Wardell.

After watching the two versions it is interesting to see the changes for the film vs stage.

Disclaimer: The live version was mailed to me via Videotape. I am surprised those bad boys are still being produced. Any who, Quaility was lost in translation….. It is better that way. Reminds me of the old dance videos that i love.

compare and contrast.

The movement is amazing, my favorite part is watching how the steps are linked together and made fluid, I think it really allows you to become emotionally invloved with the performance, however, I feel some of that is lost in the film version. Just a first impression.

Thanks for posting the two versions side by side. This a good example of how a screen version of a live piece needs to be rethought for the video medium. Unfortunately the live footage suffers from being such a small window, but even if it was larger, the screen adaptation is much more compelling to watch. I liked the screen version, however it seems a bit long and the visual effect gets a bit tiresome to watch. Sometimes visual effects like this are used to make up for poor production values from the original footage. I’m not criticizing this approach, but I think it should be used more sparingly, and if its going to be used for an entire video, the work should be really short.

I loved the song that was with the edited version. What is it? :)
