Hello Wingers,

I’d like to introduce to you the newest member of our family, Ms. Miki Orihara.

with husband Stephen Pier

A principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, frequent guest artist around the world, and teacher… I couldn’t be more thrilled to have such an experienced view from the modern dance world.

I remember seeing Miki perform with MGDC last year at City Center and she was the dancer that left the most lasting impression on me. So talented and beautiful!

Welcome Miki!

Wonderful photos! These are what dance photography is about… it pulls you into the dance and it is graphically stunning. (actually good choteography is like that - graphically powerful)

One thing about perfomance photography is that is can be simply like a snap shot documenting a perfomance.. like taking one frame from a film and printing it.

But geniuses, such as the photographers, here make the subject into a power graphic statement … as any painting might be… should be and IS.

These are really more than photographs… they are works of art!

Thanks for sharing once again Kristen.

Great photos. Kristin, you are the best We want you back on the NYCB stage, but I predict that you will have careers as a producer, a technology developer, and a tv reporter and anchorwoman. You’re smart, beautiful, articulate, and pleasant, all great qualities.

Jim

I agree with SanderO about dance photography in general and these photos in particular. I love the gorgeously colorful costumes as well! I MUST see more Graham, and am really hungry to learn more about modern, so am very glad you are along now too :)
