I just came across this blog (http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/art/2007/08/ad_busters_drain_sao_paulos_co.html) that tells how Sao Paulo apparently got rid of all the advertisements in the city? Living in the land of Times Square I can't imagine what that's like. Is it really ad-free?

Thanks for these pictures, Cathy! The book machines are really interesting -- are those all like small-sized, best-selling paperbacks -- like the kind you see in airports? Where are they?
