I received this Royal Ballet advert from the Royal Opera House this morning and immediately fell into a fit of giggles.

Mind you, I love the company and adore Marianela and her dancing, but this was… unexpected.
It’s certainly eye-catching!

Thoughts?

The Edward Watson version of this ad is even more giggle inducing! It says “Meet Ed. Fact: When he’s dancing, pound for pound, he’s stronger than a rhino. Superheroes really do wear tights.” You can see it here:

The British press also got some words in about it earlier this year: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/07/nballet107.xml

The Marianela one isn’t so bad… if you’ve ever watched her turn (and look like she’ll never fall out much less stop) then you’d understand!!

I think it is a great new approach to dance advertising and has a chance of reaching out to an audience that shuts out when presented with an “artsy” shot. It does look like an American Express ad, as Veronica pointed out, but that’s why I think it has a broader appeal.

i think it’s great, it shows a different look to dance and may spike interest just to see it.
