Hello everyone,
Seems a little strange to me that i have yet to post this video. Hands down one of my favorites.
Side story,
Garen and i were in L.A last year looking at a fashion show that i was supposed to be involved with but decided to turn down due to creative differences. While in town we were at a friends party having ourselves a good time. After a little while and some drinks later we found ourselves having too much fun playing with some balloons. On my flight back to SF i had a few “clicks” in my head and wrote them all down(side note, i collect all things notepads.) Upon landing i called my friend Dores, told her what i had in mind, went over to her place taught her some movement and recorded it. A few weeks later , Dr. Bacon who had come to SF for our first ever preplanned shoots was always trying to get more material. Lucky for me , I had just that. I showed him the footage that i had done with Dores while explaining the whole concept behind the material and he loved it. A couple nights later after all of the other work was complete we zipped over to her place and shot “Balloons” with some new concepts that Bacon introduced and that was it. BOOM. BAM POW! Thats a wrap on that. Well? Last year i decided to make it into a full more developed piece for stage with other dancers. I posted pics of the rehearsals on one of my earlier post’s.
“Balloons” is near and dear to my heart because it captures all of my interest’s but on a variety of subtle levels. Watching this you will be able to see my eye for visuals, dance, set, collaboration, music, aesthetics etc, etc..
My last trip to NYC in April was finishing up a project similar(far, far distant cousin) to “Balloons” with Drew Jacoby and Rubi Pronk. Judging by the stills from the edit that Bacon has shown me, it looks really interesting and i look forward to the final product.
I hope you enjoy :->
