I love my neighborhood. You never know what you will see, hear, or encounter in Little 5 Points. It’s an eclectic community, and since I moved here almost a year ago, the dull moments have been few and far between. Here are a few things that I have encountered in recent weeks:

The fourth traffic accident I have seen occur in the heart of Little 5 Points. This one woke me up, and I snapped the photo from my patio before going back to sleep. Luckily, out of all the accidents I’ve seen, all the passengers have been okay.

The little red lights you see in the photo are reflectors on some of the hundreds of bikes that pass through the city on the last friday of every month. This demonstration is called Critical Mass, and aims to raise awareness about bike traffic in Atlanta. I thought a lot about getting a bike to get around the city, but have always talked myself out of it because of the dangers Atlanta drivers pose to people on bikes. Yikes!

Went to Starbucks tonight to get a tea, and found that I walked into a live performance by a band that is new to me called Grand Prize Winners From Last Year. Is this a result of the new CEO’s attempts to bring Starbucks back to its cozy coffeehouse roots?

As some of you may have heard, a tornado made a rare urban appearance and ripped through downtown Atlanta. I snapped this photo of the Westin Hotel’s blown out windows last week. Scary stuff.
Stay tuned. More news from Little 5 Points and Beyond sometime in the near future…
