I am hoping that everyone got to see a stage or two this summer whether you were on one, observing one or even just imagining one! Afterall, without a stage there’d be no wings and without wings….
….well, let’s just say that a world without ‘WINGERs’ would be no fun at all!
Here are some stages that stood out for me this August!…

The stage at KNOSSOS in Crete. Billed as THE oldest theater in Europe (though I’m not sure if this is completely accurate or just an exaggeration to lure in inquiring minds like mine.) The fact is, this Minoan theater is, like, 4000 years old and that, in itself is mindblowing to me! What might not be purely factual is that this theater was built for the lovely ‘Europa’…the girl whom the continent was named after. Cool story…I live in a world of fantasy anyway. Regardless, I enjoyed this stop alot!

Madonna’s new tour just barely into it’s sold-out run, Berlin. Robyn, a singer who’s album has already provided me with a good solid year of spectacular shower-earworms was opening too!
Lately if I have a technical barrier in class or rehearsal I remind myself, ‘’ Madonna can’t sing!'’ …. She IS, however one of the world’s foremost entertainers and people love her. I might too…

While in Berlin I came into some hot seats for World Championship Heavyweight boxing. It was a biiiiig deal in the boxing world and I loveeed it! I wished I had seen it two years ago though when i played a boxer in Mauro Bigonzetti’s ‘’i Fratelli.'’ The audience was wild with a special mix of Russian (for Valuev, the utterly massive defender of the title) and American (for Ruiz, the sufficiently smaller but strategic challenger). Obnoxious debauchery was inevitable. Valuev won, again, (see blurry photo of end of match) and attributed his win to working with a new trainer who helped turn his body into ‘’a new kind of machine.'’ I can certainly sympathize. My apparatus always seems to be in need of a good tune-up.

Got back to Stuttgart and saw this in one of the main plazas. Unfortunately, I had to bike to work before I could figure out what it was for. I like it though… big stages make me excited and tingly….

…but little stages are okay too. Here, me on a semi-rectified version of a column in Crete. 4000 years old…. I thought I was ancient at 25!:)
