Just thought I would “re post” something I first posted for my trip to Japan in September. In honor of all of our favorite t shirt store! Welcome to NYC!
One of the things I was most looking forward to on arrival to Tokyo, was visiting and buying out the complete “Graniph Design” store here in Japan. This store commissions designers to create a line of t shirts to sell in their store. Granted, there is such a wide array of styles of t’s there, its a feast for the eyes (and the wallet). I discovered this store on my last trip here and fell maddly in love for it. It is the type of innovative Japanese design that attracts me to Tokyo and the people here. When I returned to NYC, I got so many compliments on the t shirts I bought at Graniph, and wore them throughout the whole year.
Well, upon my return, one of my first stops was to Graniph… As I am browsing through the t’s, loving them all, I come across a name that I am VERY familiar with… none other than Kristin’s boyfriend extrodinaire… Doug Jaeger. I was so excited to see his name there, and in a store I love so much, commissioning artists with complete individuality. And, here I thought I was so alone in Tokyo… but ‘family’ is right where you left it!
Bravo Doug!

A blurry pic of Doug’s name under his t shirt.

Doug’s t shirt is the gray one on the first shelf.

Doug and I just got the PS3 game Fight Night (a boxing game) and they have this feature where you can morph the features of the players to make them look like you.
You can control everything… cheekbones, width, position, slope and bridge of nose, jaw angle, scalp shape, ear angle… everything.
The subject.
The morphing process.
How about adding some tatoos?
Amazing huh?
The game is pretty good too. I kicked Doug’s butt in the first game (I was Mohamed Ali and he was Oscar de la Hoya, so it wasn’t exactly a fair match). Of course he came back and beat me the next game when we were both the same weight class. With all the sweat and spit it’s pretty realistic, and a little bit addicting.

The other night, Doug and I were leaving Casimir, a great french restaurant in our neighborhood. It took me a little longer to put on all my winter gear, and when I walked outside, I found Doug tying his shoe laces… in true ballet dancer style!
It’s not posed, I swear!
Then, we stopped at Duane Reade on our way home and I noticed this M&M in a perfect first position…

weird.

It’s dusk right now at the Hotel Nikko.
Not a bad view huh?
Last night the brothers Jaeger and I did a little evening tour of the North Beach area of the city. A few drinks, a few wood oven pizzas and some historic entertainment.

After dinner, we checked out the only unionized worker-owned peep show in SF, the Lusty Lady. The strippers own the club, and belong to a union (it’s also the only unionized club in the country). The link above takes you to an interesting article about trying to preserve a piece of San Francisco history, as well as the rights of the dancers.
Sorry, no pics of the inside

Me looking a bit hesitant…

Today… while Doug and Matt were at a meeting with Adobe, I did an phone interview for an article that won’t come out until March(??)…
Then I got to join them for a casual dinner of insanely spicy Thai food with Brian Lam, the editor of Gizmodo, an insanely popular technology blog under the Gawker Media umbrella.

I just loooove chatting with techie people
He also writes for Wired, one of my favorite mags of all time!

Tonight was Doug’s second time speaking as an expert in viral advertising on CNBC’s “On The Money”.
Isn’t he cute… he’s such a smarty pants too.
The segment followed their big story on Google’s purchase today of YouTube, for something like 1.5 billion dollars. Insanity.
Doug spoke about a recent viral campaign by Milwaukee’s Best Light Beer where they fill beer cans with sand and send them out of a canon, blowing stuff up. We’re not sure if that’s going to get people to buy their beer, but people do love watching the videos.
And guess what… You can watch them on YouTube.
