Thanks to budding photographer Matt Murphy, some shots were caught as I cooled down after a puffy Ballo della Regina, this weekend. Due to injury, I filled in for two extra shows of this ballet, which gave me six ballets to dance in two days, matinee and evening performances. It was an unusual circumstance but one I took with a strong mind set that I could get through it. And I did, and now I’m home HURTING but well worth it…

Notice the shot under this, Matt shooting away in the back ground.

Mirrored Artwork

The cards and ‘art’ that adorn my mirror build up as the season rolls by.
Here I have a photo of Alexander Godunov which someone sent me (resemblance?)which I just found out died on my birthday, May 18th (hmmm?); a print of Egon Schiele, one of my favorite artists; a drawing of the Palais Garnier in Paris; and assorted cards from my debut in La Bayadere, which happened a couple of evenings ago, with Ms. Herrera as my partner.

Transitions

The Nutcracker season has officially ended.

Sad for me, because it means I no longer get to play on stage until my injury is fully healed. Hopfully it won’t be too much longer.

But it’s good for all the other dancers, who are anxiously awaiting putting Nutcracker behind them so that they can focus all their energies towards Peter Martins’ Sleeping Beauty which will begin its two-week run on Tuesday.

Here’s Faye, my buddy and dressing room neighbor. This photo was taken before the third to last Nutcracker performance, when delerium had set in, and our dressing room began doing Borat impressions… for a good 15 minutes.

Here’s one of my favorite moments of my Nutcracker performing experience this year… passing the little mice awaiting their time on stage, on my way to the elevator.

One time, all the little mice kids where hanging around the elevator, and as the Mouse King steps out of the elevator, one of the them (in a very deep voice for a little girl), says “Hey Duuuuuude.”

My parents dress, looking a bit sad, ready for it’s last outing of the year.

Nora says, “Just look at all these pit pads!”

As the Nuts is happening, our friends in the green room work diligently on preparing the costumes for Sleeping Beauty.
All of the costumes get “pit pads” to soak up the unsitely sweat marks that inevitably appear over the course of a performance. Not super glamourous, but they serve an important purpose.

On the prettier side of things…here’s the Lilac Fairy tutu getting a few repairs.

And finally, the Green Room First Aid Kit/Tool Box.
