A crowd gathers for opening night festivities for TLV Fest at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

Back in February, I served as the assistant to the director on a short film by November Wanderin, and it debuted last night at the opening of TLV Fest, the 3rd Israel International LGBT Film Festival. November’s film centered around a developing love affair between a dancer and choreographer and she needed extra dancers to be in the choreographer’s company, so I also got to be on camera, stretching on a Tel Aviv beach and improvising in a rehearsal scene. I’m in it for about 20 seconds, but hey, it’s still my big screen debut!

Welcome to the 4th-annual T-MINUS Film Festival: Bringing Time into Focus.
What slows down when everything speeds up? Why do things that move fast demonstrate a unique inner peace when viewed from a different speed? What are the defining patterns in the world of motion?
T-MINUS 2007 showcases a collection of imaginative and innovative work from filmmakers, scientists, photographers, dancers, printers, musicians, and passengers (as well as a few roosters) from around the globe - attempting to explore these questions through the creative medium of time.
This year’s festival presents 13 works encompassing a range of techniques and perspectives - from 16mm walks through NYC, to algorithm’s in dance. Through shifting sequences, interrupting motion, or shuffling timelines, each piece succeeds at illuminating the hidden corners of our world by bringing Time into Focus.
Including work by:
Charles Lim
Chris Jordan
Grant Wakefield
John Adderly
Luca Mugnaini
Luke Dubois
Nathaniel Stern
Peter Shapiro
Sameer Butt
Ting Hsing Want
Tony Schultz
Adam Kendall
Robert Dennis

Heather

After the improv, Heather and I wandered around to catch a last minute glimpse of some of the artists’ work. We met Hubert Ho, a composer, and saw some curiously hypnotic video clips of hands by (I think) Ginelle Hustrulid. We also found an old Steenbeck film editing machine:

Fun, huh? That avocado green makes it extra endearing. Can you just imagine someone clipping and trimming away at film reels, tossing all the bits that don’t work out, and sticking the rest together for their masterpiece?

Hey Wingers. Just back from Santa Barbara visiting my girlfriend Lisa. It is so gorgeous out there. Perhaps the most wonderful weekend I have ever had. Lisa shows me lots of beautiful things and is always ready for adventure. I will be glad when she comes back to home to New York. Though California is seductive I am happy to be back home in the Bronx. There are beautiful things here too if you know how to look for them.
This is a timelapse video of Van Cortlandt Park and the 1 line train yard, taken from the window of my apartment. I recorded it over a year ago when I first started building time-machines to harvest media. This day was simply amazing and I feel lucky to have captured it. This video was the first I ever posted on the internet. It was featured in a video collection curated by Jonny Goldstein at Anthology Film Archives back in December of 2005. The music is by my good friend and Bronx native Damien Quinones.

I am happy to share this video with all of you because it represents the spaces and places that are dear to me. It should remind us of all the wonderful worlds hiding around us, ready to open up when we take the time to see them. Its important we look out for these things and share them with others when we find them. I hope Lisa likes it and that you do too.

Hi everybody…
It’s 1° in Stuttgart right now. When I stepped outside today the unexpected temperature seemed to slap me accross the face. It appears that I have totally missed autumn due to being in the theatre all day..everyday. Our season is well underway here, you see, and there’s all kinds of exciting stuff happening that takes my mind right out of the real world…. At the moment we are dancing John Neumier’s ‘La dame aux Camélias’ or ‘Die Kameliendame’… a ballet I am so passionate about, if I start discussing it right now, a tangent will surely follow. I hope to be able to gather my thoughts and elaborate soon though….
I am sure the weather is changing where all of you WINGER’s are located aswell….and the streets and stores are undoubtedly getting ‘festive’ for the upcoming season. (even though Cathy and her friends are probably anticipating summer…) Nevertheless, Frosty and Rudolf (not Nureyev) will soon be all over TV’s around the world! I am not sure if all of you have seen ‘’White Christmas'’ but while watching this film a few years back I discovered THIS (lesser known) STAR. I am not sure why I didn’t know of her before as I was always a fan of Astaire and Kelly & co. as a kid. While discussing her with friends I found out that it wasn’t just me who had been in the dark for all these years! I am sure lots of you know and love this woman but maybe there are few who have yet to be introduced to her fabulousness!…
Anyway, I am starting to feel a little jolly (yes, jolly) , myself so until I have time to really sit down and share some of the current Stuttgart-splendor, I thought I’d give everybody a little gift to tide you over…
If you DO happen to be in a cold climate like me, THIS may warm y’up…
See you next time
