This is once again the same shot that I took from “Appalachian Spring” photo call run.

This is Jessie Ksanznak, one of our stage manager on this fall. She is wataching “Appalachian Spring” from the stage right.

She is running her cues.

This is a REAL back stage. Cross over is a bit like a old club.

Here Denise Vale, who used to dance in the company and now rehearsal director is giving notes after the run. on the left Jackie Bulnes , on the right Jacquelien Elder with Maurizio Nardi on the rock.

The other moment after the run, David Zurak is feeling the space, and Maurizio and the Followers( Atsuko, Jacqueline and Masha on site) getting notes.

and finally, Jessie could have a stage!!!

I don’t even remember where we were.

“El Penitente” sets by Isamu Noguchi. This is one of my favorite pieces to dance. I started to dance “El Penitente” when I was in the Ensemble. This is one of the pieces that I worked on with Yuriko and Martha, and it was a hard but wonderful experience.

(Here David Zurak as Christ figure changing behind the sail. and death cart on the floor)

(Tadej Brdnik is Penitent)

This is the “Applachian Spring” set viewed from down stage right. Another beautiful Isamu Noguchi set!!!

From the left, David Zurak as Husband Man, Maurizio Nardi as Preature, Four Followers are Jacqueline Elder, Atsuko Tonohata, Jackie Bulnes and Mariya Dashkina Maddux, Katherine Crocket as Pionerring Woman in the last prayer during Bride’s solo.

more to come…

We had a great NY season at the Joyce Theater and soon after, we left for tour. This tour is 8 weeks altogether, but in and out from NY.
The first part of the tour, took us to Seattle(WA), Dover(DE),Newark(DE) and now we are in Frederick(MD). It is interesting to see different theater set-ups.

This is Judy who is our Lighting Supervisor on this tour. Usually she gets a desk on top of the seats but in Dover, a music stand was what she got. It is funny to see her this way.

And this is the “Errand into the Maze” stage rehearsal before the show. On the left side we called this “Bone” or “Pelvis”, in the air is what we call “Moon” . These are also Isamu Noguchi’s design.

Today is a day off in Frederick so I will visit downtown and walk around. Hope I remember to take some photos… I always forget…

I am a little slow here…

miki_40 USA_flag Japan-flag Posted by Miki Orihara

Thank you to Kristin for all the instructions but I am bit slow.

Graham company had splendid performances at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art in the end of March.
*Out side of CMCA

*At opening night reception with Julie & Andreas(Long time friends and Directors for Hubbard Street Dance 2)
*At the Garden, middle of Manhattan
We presented all Noguchi/Graham pieces, Errand into the Maze, Embattled Garden, Appalachian Spring. I had a previledge dancing all three ballets (of course not in one night). All 5 performances went really well and of course I had a great time.
Well now I am back in NY, spending some time to clean the community garden where I have a plot , and have some time to see some performances around the city.

I will write more about Graham, and at the same time, things I see in NYC.

Thank you!
