I know that i said that i was only going to have “Paper Magic” posted for one day but i decided that i wanted to show some continuity to my last posts. Now i dont seem like such a tool for posting paper crumbling:)
The first peice “Knee Play 1″ is going to be set on a company this year using 5 dancers. It will be interesting to go in and work out the changes, details, timing and all that good stuff on other bodies. I am adding 4 new sections as well with other dancers so that i end up with a 20 min peice, with some cool little surprises. By the time that is done we would have found supporters and backers to really make this a reality for us.
Enjoy!

Comments are always welcomed. They give me an inner glow. Who does not want to shine on? Oh, all the credits are at the end.

I had a great time creating and collaborating on this project. The response was great and i am glad that everyone enjoyed the works. I just got back to SF this week. I was NYC completing a dance film and a different section of “Paper Magic” with Drew Jacoby and Rubi Pronk. Dr.Bacon our film guy shot the piece and it is currently being edited. I am still not dating Natalie Portman so that means i have a lot more work to do.
My team and i are back together plotting the course of the next few months. Conceptualizing is the name of the game. I have some performances coming up that will be all part of the “Paper Magic” theme using different artist’s. Me being me, i always have hair brain ideas cooking around so i will keep you guys in the loop about future happenings.

ps. All paper was recycled. “Go green or go home!”
…This was a one-day only showing on March 26th. Maybe if you ask Brian nicely, he will do this again for his next work!…
Why did I decide to do Paper Magic? My honest answer is that I want to date Natalie Portman. It’s true.
The real reason why I want to do an online showing is because I want to get my work out to the general public after it is complete as soon as possible. I am always thinking about different performance ideas with a huge back catalogue of movement that I have created solely for the purpose of being able to retain the choreography. The Artist Group San Francisco (TAG SF) was created for this reason.
We want to be able to produce and create our own works. Seasoned mature artists, along with younger dancers whom bring a different dynamic mixed with visual artist’s, filmmakers, musicians and other artists of different backgrounds all working together to make the highest quality work possible. Thus far we have been able to do so with no to very little money. We are self-producing all of our own works because we genuinely want to create and collaborate with different artists whom share the same interests.
If I were to wait for grants and commissions to get works produced we would have very little to show. You have to do work to get work, if you don’t get work how do you do work? So it ends up being a catch 22. The talent, imagination, creativity is all there, we have things to say and we do. The works that we make are all things that we would be interested in watching ourselves.
Paper Magic was created as a companion piece. It is two parts of a much larger whole. I made a conscious decision to not use any multi-media this time around so that we can use other inventive ways to set up tone and atmosphere for the works. Paper Magic is simple yet effective.
I had a great time making this and I hope that you all enjoy!
