CATHY GODEGHESI is a 16 year old ballet student, sharing her story with us from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is currently a dedicated and enthusiastic student at Pulsarte, near her home in the city. Cathy began dancing at the age of 8, and has performed with her school in productions of Swan Lake, Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Nutcracker (which she is currently working on).

Cathy loves to see the ballet companies that come to Sao Paulo. She appreciates the art, music and history of ballet as well as the training, dedication and discipline it takes.
She has been rehearsing excerpts from The Nutcracker, which her school will video tape and send out in the hopes of being chosen to perform in festivals around the country over the summer.Cathy says that although ballet is not very popular in Sao Paulo, and opportunities are limited, the people who practice it and enjoy it are very dedicated - just like her.
