MEGAN KURASHIGE is currently a student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, directed by Summer Lee Rhatigan. After receiving primarily classical training, she feels incredibly lucky for the opportunity to work with a number of choreographers in a wide range of styles. Before attending SFCD, Megan studied at the Academy of Ballet in San Francisco with Richard Gibson. She attended summer programs in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Prague. Megan joined Ballet Pacifica in Irvine, California in 2003 and danced with the company for two seasons. While there, her favorite roles were Snow Queen in The Nutcracker and the narcoleptic Dormouse in Robert Sund’s Alice in Wonderland.

During the summer of 2005, Megan began studying at SFCD and was blown away by the commitment and generosity of the teachers and the challenges of contemporary movement. She particularly enjoyed learning choreography by Jiri Kylian and exploring new work with Alex Ketley and Christian Burns. Megan will be auditioning for companies in the new year and hopes to find a place where she can dance as much as possible.
